Will the green movement erode the economics of big oil?
Because it is a rather controversial issue, please consider it from the business perspective ONLY.

- Oil is eroding it´s own economics. We really should have had viable energy sources 20 years ago but the US is a market led economy and the Europeans are too afraid to do anything by themselves.
- Anything is possible. Who would have thought (back in the '70's) Russia would fall.
- The only way the green movement will erode big oil is if it has a large population backing it. People can talk about being green and drive a hybrid car, but until the majority of Americans turn their back on big oil and realize our addiction can it ever have an impact. I do my part, but I confess, for the most part, I am used to my lifestyle. Despite my efforts at being "green," I'm no where near ready to be totally independant of oil. It will take a great movement of people or a great tragedy to break our dependency.
- no, China is getting to be a major consumer and seems to have no interest in ecology
